about millennium minis

Millennium Minis was setup by myself, Jo Hutchings, and is founded on the principle that quality childcare is fundamental to every community.

Originally a teacher with over 10 years experience, I specialised in Early Years as well as working as a special needs teacher helping children with autism, dyslexia, speech and language difficulties and behavioural issues. After my sons were born I became a childminder for 3 years and was rated as Outstanding by Ofsted.

Creating and running a nursery has been my long term aim and within Millennium Minis I aim to put into practice what I have learnt from my experiences in childminding and teaching and also those gained from raising my two sons.

  • As a teacher I learnt that every child is unique and the care and education a nursery or school can provide are vital for the child's development
  • As a childminder I learnt that the strict age bands that bind schools do not necessarily reflect a child's stage of development and a core principle of Millennium Minis is that the children will be able to mix freely with older and younger children.
  • As a mother to 2 young boys I learnt that being a parent is a skill learnt and a nursery needs to work closely with parents to understand and meet their child's unique requirements.

We strive to offer the children a 'home-from-home' environment offering the highest standard of care, enabling them to develop and grow socially, physically and emotionally, and most importantly happily.

Sarah Broughton, Childcare Director   I am the Childcare Director at Millennium Minis Nursery.  I have worked my way up within this setting; firstly I started as the Deputy Manager and then become the Nursery Manager.  I have over ten years' worth of experience working within the childcare field and in 2011 I completed my Foundation Degree in Early Years and Education.

During my work I have gained an excellent understanding of how to promote each child's individual needs following EYFS framework and statutory guidelines; making sure that all babies and children are provided with a safe, welcoming and stimulating environment.   Building upon a strong partnership with parents and a strong team of staff to follow the settings ethos and provide a community within the nursery.

Within my new role I will be excessing and reviewing our nurseries practice alongside a strong team of professionals.
